PRACTICE STAFF

The management team are responsible for the administration of the practices. They would be happy to hear your views and suggestions about the service offered by the practices and to assist you with any problems you may have.

RECEPTION STAFF

They will assist you in making appointments to see your doctor, undertake repeat prescriptions, arrange home visits and transport to hospital when necessary. The receptionists are fully trained and have a difficult job to do. Please remember that if you are kept waiting or are asked some apparently irritating questions, it is because our policy is aimed at the smooth and safe running of the practice. We need to ascertain the urgency of particular requests and sometimes spend longer with patients than we have allowed.

NURSING SERVICES

Practice Nurses

Services provided by our practice nurses include dressings, ear syringing, removal of sutures, cervical smear tests, blood pressure checks, dietary advice and a full range of immunisations and travel vaccinations. Nursing clinics include asthma, diabetes, family planning and teenage health screening.

The Primary Care Trust employs district nurses, health visitors and midwives who provide services for our patients. Details as follows:

Midwife

Our midwife holds weekly clinics, usually on Thursday afternoons. If you think you are pregnant, first make an appointment with your doctor.

Community District Nurses

We have a close liaison with the district nurses and other professionals who provide medical care in the community. You may be referred to these specialist personnel when appropriate.

Health Visitors

Health visitors visit all families with children under five years. They provide information, advice and support to families, particularly in times of physical and emotional stress.

Medical/Nurse Training

Students are sometimes attached to the practice as part of their training. If a medical student or nurse is 'sitting in' with a doctor during surgery you will be asked whether or not you wish the student to be present during your consultation.
