THE HEALTH CENTRE HOUSES TWO SEPARATE PRACTICES
Dr A Basu - single-handed
Dr N Kumar & Dr (Mrs) A Sinha - a non-limited partnership
The health centre was built by the Essex Area Health Authority in 1972 to provide health care facilities for the residents of Shoebury. Contained within the building are two separate GP practices: Dr Basu since 1976 and Dr Kumar and his wife, Dr Sinha, since 1998. There is a separate reception desk for each practice.

MBBS Family Planning Cert (England) Full registration 1972
Dr Basu has a special interest in cardiology and preventative medicine. The primary health care team are happy to help patients with diet and exercise programmes, family planning, asthma and diabetes.
Additional surgeries are undertaken on a regular basis by other doctors assisting in the practice.
Dr Basu’s reception desk is open from 8.00am – 6.30pm weekdays.
Surgeries are held every weekday morning and afternoon (times may vary).
We operate both a “book on the day” and a pre-booked appointment system.
Telephone consultation appointments are available daily.
Enquiries concerning test results should be made after 2.30pm.
The surgery is closed on the first Tuesday afternoon of every month for 'Time to Learn' sessions.

Dr Kumar and Dr Sinha are a husband and wife team. Both provide a complete range of medical services.
The PRACTICE IS happy to ACCEPT applications to join their list. Please ask at our reception desk for an application form.
Dr Navin Kumar
LRCP LRCS (Edinburgh) LRCPS (Glasgow) Full registration 1983
GP appraiser for South East Essex Primary Care Trust.
Special interest in cardiology, medicine for the elderly, respiratory medicine.
Languages - English, Hindi, Urdu and Bengali.
Dr (Mrs) Asha Sinha
MB BS DGO MS MRCOG (London) MRCGP (UK) Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Teaching (Oxon) Full registration 1995
Dr Sinha is also a gynaecologist and obstetrician. She specialises in pre-pregnancy counselling, teenage health, pregnancy, contraceptive procedures including IUCD (coil fitting), HRT and HRT implants and female ailments and holds a special Women’s Clinic once a week.
Dr Sinha is a registered GP Trainer and a GP Registrar will be working in the surgery for further primary care training before going on to find a full time post in general practice, or the practice may host attachments of medical students. We will always notify you when this is happening and hope that you will feel able to help in this training. However, you have the right, and will always be given the option to decline to have a registrar or student involved in any consultation.
Additional surgeries will be undertaken by doctors assisting in the practice, ie one full-time salaried and three part-time doctors, including a lady doctor.

We provide two late evening surgeries 6.30 - 8.30pm for pre-booked appointments, usually on Mondays and Tuesdays excluding bank holidays.
